The Turning Point: I had reached a point where my weight had clearly begun to impact my mental wellbeing, in addition to my physical health. My confidence level was going down with every passing day and I was no longer the happy-go-lucky person, I once used to be. Seeing myself change for the worse, I realised that I needed to do everything under my will to shed all the excess kilos and get back in shape. I haven’t looked back since that day and I am so proud of myself for sticking to my decision.
I Indulge in: I used to eat whatever I craved for but made sure it was home cooked.
My workout: I made it a point to do yoga and pilates for an hour every day. I also went for a walk for an hour every day, without fail.
My breakfast, lunch and dinner: I used to follow a strict diet chart which essentially meant I had did not repeat any meal throughout the day. I was also on the GM Diet (General Motors Diet) which a super-strict diet plan of 7 days.
Low-calorie recipes: I believe that anything made at home is healthy for you and low in calories. So, be mindful of what you are eating and there would be no need for any cheat day.
Fitness secret I unveiled: I realised that once you begin to lose weight and see tangible results, you will crave to achieve more and more. I made it a point to make short-term goals and give my 100 per cent to achieve them. You can achieve anything if you have the willpower and motivation to do so.
How do I stay motivated? There is nothing as motivating as looking at my old pictures and comparing them to the present ones. It really empowers me that I have changed so much in such a short span of time. It keeps me motivated to keep going forward.
How do you ensure you don’t lose focus? Once, I made the decision to get back in shape, I knew that I wanted to lose weight by hook or by crook. I was my own motivation and there was no looking back from that day.
What’s the most difficult part of being overweight? Without any doubt, the most difficult part of being overweight was that I clothes that wanted to wear did not come in my size. As a result, my confidence levels took a sharp dip and it made me feel really sad.
What shape do you see yourself 10 years down the line? I would like to stay in the same shape and weight as I am right now for the coming 10 years.
What are the lifestyle changes you made? I made it a point to work out regularly and go for a walk every day without fail.
What was the lowest point for you? The saddest part was definitely the fact that even though I was trying a lot, I wasn’t able to lose a lot of weight. I had tried a host of different diets and weight loss plans but nothing seemed to work. It was even more heartbreaking when I could see that people were clearly gossiping about me.
Lessons learnt from weight loss: On my quest to lose weight, I have realised that nothing is impossible in life and you can achieve anything and everything in life. The trick is to stay strong and dedicated to your goals. My weight loss journey has been life-changing to the say the least.
