What is the best way to get your questions about food and healthy eating habits answered by an authority so as to be aware of, and enjoy, good nutrition?
You can participate in an Ask Me Anything (“AMA”) scheduled on March 1 at 2:00 p.m. with Jen Hobbs, MS, RDN, who is an Instructor in Foods and Nutrition at Merced College.
The AMA will celebrate March as National Nutrition Month.

Erin Meyer, M.S., Sustainable Food Programs Coordinator at UC Merced’s Office of Sustainability, Office of Leadership, Service and Career, informed the Times, “We will have the AMA with Jen Hobbs. I picked her because I knew she was a Nutrition professor and she has been volunteering with the People’s Fridge and Pop-Up People’s Pantry, two entities that fight food insecurity locally, and she’s a wonderful person.
“She will talk about whatever the audience asks about. It could be questions like what to feed my preschooler who is a picky eater, or do you have a good recipe for a plant-based soup, or what was your career path to become a nutritionist.”

Hobbs earned undergraduate and graduate degrees in Nutritional Sciences and Dietetics from Cal State University, Fresno, and completed her Dietetic Internship at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
She then began a career as a pediatric dietician at Valley Children’s Hospital and spent 13 years working on childhood obesity prevention for the County of Merced.
In 2008, she opened her own nutrition counseling business called Nutrition Solutions and helped clients with diabetes management, weight loss and healthy eating.
She worked at UC Merced as the campus dietitian and then became a full-time professor at Merced College in 2015.
