Johor Sports Council (MSNJ) has launched an online workout video called Rise Up Lockdown Workout Guide to encourage all Malaysians to continue practising a healthy lifestyle during the lockdown.
MSNJ strength and conditioning coach Abdul Rahim Abdul Raof said the video featured a minute-long workout routine that can be done at home without the need to go out or use sports equipment.
“We want to promote health awareness to the public by showing them the right techniques of light exercises that can be done at home.
“We started posting these videos on social media once a week since the start of the movement control order this year, aside from sharing other techniques and methods,” he said.
He added that the idea was based on online coaching for Johor athletes where their performance was monitored through their workout video routine.
“This is one of the ways we grade our athletes at The Cage Sports Centre in Iskandar Puteri, so we expanded the idea to the general public, but without the intense training and workout.
“Each video is available on our social media channels and they can be streamed for free,” said Abdul Rahim.
He added that MSNJ also provided tips on the types of food that could be eaten when working from home.
“We also included a live-stream session with the national athletes on our social media where they share their activities at home during this lockdown,” he said, adding that those who wish to participate can post their videos on Instagram with the hashtag #RiseUpCommunity.
