The Father’s Day Parade, the final day of the fish festival, entertained and captivated the community despite the heat of June 20 in Vermilion.
The parade, which runs along Liberty Avenue and parts of Ohio Street, was led by the Vermilion Fire Department, followed by Mayor Jim Fortfer and members of local businesses, organizations, and communities.
Among them were the 2021 Miss Vermilion Diana Sewall, the rest of the royal family of the festival crowned at the beginning of the weekend, and the royal family from festivals around Ohio.
Several batons and drum corps, including The Futuristic’s Baton and Drum Corps and The Deputies, march on the streets to the beat of the drums with brightly colored apparel, while dressed girls in glittering tossed batons. It was decorated.
Following the parade, the community was invited to Victory Park to attend the final festival of a three-day luxury event, including a vermilion firefighter naval battle and a live performance of Leonard in France.
