The Cambodian government and the World Food Program (WFP) announced the launch of the Business Network of Nutrition Promotion Movement (SBN Cambodia) which aims to consolidate businesses for the purpose of promoting better nutrition.
According to the press release of the WFP, the business network was set up by the Council for Agricultural and Rural Development (CARD) with the support of the WPF. The business network was set up to promote support between the private sector, businesses, government and development partners to contribute to the promotion of a healthy diet and the implementation of sustainable health practices.
“We are proud of the progress made over the past decade in the improving nutrition, especially for children.”, said the Secretary General of the Council for Agricultural and Rural Development, Sok Silo. “However, there is still much work to be done to eliminate malnutrition.”, he continued. He also added that local businesses are indispensable players in improving the quality of food for Cambodians.
The Secretary General hopes that the launch of the SBN Cambodia with the support of the private sector will emphasize the importance and value of the role of local businesses.
Sok also added that the establishment of the SBN is an important national event, especially in the support of the Global Nutrition Awareness Movement. The movement aims to eliminate global nutrition problems by 2030. The movement also recognizes the important role of the private sector in improving nutrition and contributing to sustainable economic development.
